Food is essential to well-being and it is important that everyone has access to food that is fresh and nutritious. The agency is striving to meet this goal through Horizons' Nutrition & Wellness Programs.
The World Health Organization defines health as “a state of physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity" (2003). Horizons offers the opportunity for families to improve their overall well-being. Horizons offers a multidimensional approach that not only teaches valuable nutrition, cooking, and physical activity information, but also addresses the underlying barriers to adopting healthy lifestyles, such as finances and emotional difficulties.
