There is an ever-changing funding environment for human services agencies. More investors are requiring non-profits to be strong, reliable and effective organizations with a wide range of services and community collaboration.
On July 1st, 2005, the Boards of Directors of Family Services and Alternative Services voted unanimously to merge the two not-for-profit organizations. The Directors believed merging would create stronger community presence and expanded, more effective services.
The new agency is named Horizons - A Family Service Alliance. The Horizons mission remains the same as its predecessors; to continue helping generations of Eastern Iowans. The Horizons Board of Directors is newly committed to stewardship, responsiveness to community needs and expanded services within Eastern Iowa.
